Starfish offers kayak trips daily to some of the most beautiful and historic areas of the Exumas. Trips are intended for the beginner as well as the more experienced sea kayaker. Visit Moriah Cay National Park, Starfish Isle, Hamburger Beach, Great Exuma's Southside or join us on one of our Full Moon trips. All trips include transportation, gear, guide and beverages.
TRIP DESCRIPTIONS
Moriah Cay:
This spectacular kayak trip is suitable for all ages & skill levels. If you are in reasonably good health, don’t have severe back problems, and aren’t afraid of water, this trip will stay in your memory forever. You will be among the first people ever to explore the Bahamas newest designated National Park- Moriah Cay. You will be picked up from the resort and driven to the embarkation point where you will receive instructions and be fitted into your kayak. These kayaks are very stable and easy to learn. Our guide staff will provide you with all the skills necessary for the trip even if you have never kayaked before. Our skilled guides will then lead you through crystal blue waters, white sandy beaches, tranquil islands, and interesting marine life.
Elizabeth Harbor:
Our skilled guides will lead you through crystal blue waters, white sandy beaches, and interesting marine life. Points of interest include: kayaking across Elizabeth Harbor to Starfish beach to view giant starfish and enjoy a beautiful beach. Then onto Hamburger beach where you have the option of hiking up to the salt beacon for incredible views of the Harbor, or walking on the nature trail to the ocean side of stocking island for a swim in the ocean.
TRIP INCLUDES
Round trip transportation from the resort to the launch point, equipment, a guide, instruction, and wind jackets in cold or windy weather, lunch is served at the Bonefish Lodge for those who've purchased the kayak package.
WHAT TO WEAR & BRING
- There are wet entrances and exits from the boat, and great opportunities to swim so you will want to wear your swimsuit. A hat and long sleeve shirt will assist in sheltering you from a very hot tropical sun. We recommend sneakers or reef shoes to protect your feet. Flip Flops are less satisfactory, but may be used in the absence of anything else.
- Please bring sunscreen of at least SPF30.
- Though you may not need it, we suggest you bring some insect repellent, particularly on calm days or after rainy days.
- Your hotel will provide towels for you.
- It is not recommended to bring an expensive camera on the trip without a waterproof case.
- We suggest you put a Visa or MasterCard (AMEX is not widely accepted here) in your swimsuit pocket, along with a few bills that you don’t mind getting wet.
